How to help grow the sport of disc golf

Disc golf has been around for quite a few years and has grown in popularity since its inception. During the pandemic, we witnessed tremendous growth in the sport. This was due to many people seeking outdoor activities, and disc golf emerged as one of the popular choices. With this surge in popularity, there are now more individuals frequenting disc golf courses. It is important to remind ourselves about disc golf etiquette.

Respect other players: Treat fellow players with respect, maintaining a positive attitude and refraining from disruptive behavior.

Follow course rules: Familiarize yourself with the specific rules of the course you're playing on, including tee pad usage, out-of-bounds areas, and any unique regulations.

Yield the right of way: Allow groups behind you to play through if you are playing slower, and yield to players who have a better position or are closer to the hole.

Keep the course clean: Dispose of trash properly and pick up after yourself. Leave the course in better condition than you found it.

Control your disc: Be aware of where your disc is going and make an effort to avoid hitting or endangering other players, spectators, or park features.

Avoid distractions: Refrain from talking or making noise while others are throwing. Respect the concentration and focus of fellow players.

Practice good sportsmanship. Kindness and courtesy are paramount. Avoid swearing, tantrums, rudeness, and other negative behaviors, as they detract from the fun and can result in penalty strokes in sanctioned competitive play.
